So early Friday morning (May 16th ... that's right, the due date) rolls around and we have to be at the Medical Center at 5:00am for Amanda to be induced. Obviously, Ben has determined that in his mother's womb he doesn't have to pay rent, get a job, feed himself, learn to drive, go to school or anything else of the sort. To sum it up, he has no responsibility. (But I can't blame him, life is good.) Yet, Dr. Cheek said he had to come out - so we're at the hospital and after shift-change she was finally given Pitocin (7:30am). A couple hours later at 9:30am she's given the epidural. So if you're like me you're thinking, wow - he's coming in the next few hours, sweet! Well, Ben had other plans and he must not like to be told what to do ... or in this case, when to come out (gee, I wonder who he gets that from - hmmm). So about 17 hours pass and Benjamin David finally comes into the world at 2:29am on Saturday, May 17th. He weighs 7lbs 9oz and he's 22 inches long (I believe that means he's tall enough already to ride roller coasters ... wow!) Amanda did such a wonderful job - I am so proud of her and I have a new love and respect for her after seeing what she endured.
Here are a few pics of him and his proud mommy and daddy ... I'll get more up soon. Amanda and I serve an AWESOME GOD! We praise the LORD our GOD ALMIGHTY for giving us a healthy son; all ten fingers and all ten toes ... he is so precious!
